About this month's article

"Jesus said 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples... baptizing... teaching....' I have heard Christians voice a thousand reasons to delay, avoid, or bottleneck obedience to Jesus' unqualified command: you don't have the certificate, or the degree, or the maturity, or you didn't attend the proper conference or seminar. What part of 'All authority' didn't we understand? Maybe Nike has it right: 'Just do it.' "

Already advancing the Kingdom!
This past month, Rock the World partnered with All Nations and Campus Church Networks to pull off "Student CPx (Church Planting Experience)" in Pittsburgh. Student CPx is all about equipping college students to share Jesus and plant simple churches of new believers on their campuses. Meredith Borel and Whis Hays helped with Student CPx training, and Amy Fleming (Josiah Project Team 17) participated. Do not miss the AMAZING story below, of how Amy, along with some others, saw 3 young people meet Jesus, get healed, and baptized in less than 24 hours!
By Lauren Nanson
Recent University of Texas grad & Student CPx trainer
We were at the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh, worshiping on the bridge with jimbe and guitar and dancing. A group of friends including Stephanie, Kim, and Nick were ushered to the bridge by police officers who told them to go join the party. Nick said later, "I knew that if a cop told me to party, it must be fate!" They sat across from us and watched us worship God. This other guy named Nathan came right in front of us and sat down and thanked us for what we were doing. I ran after him to talk to him. As I asked him questions, he started speaking out all his spiritual convictions with amazing charisma. Soon the whole group of friends had gathered around him to hear him share. The problem was Nathan was preaching a completely false gospel. I stood there watching all these people take in all this deception with amazing spiritual hunger, and I felt so helpless. Holy Spirit, what should I do?
I turned to the girl next to me and asked if she would like to hear some real spiritual truth. As Nathan continued his false preaching, God drew away Kim and her brother Nick to hear about Jesus from me and my friend Lindsay. We prayed for them and asked God for words that would speak straight to their hearts. Meanwhile, Amy Fleming (JP 17) noticed that Stephanie was watching what was going on. She approached Stephanie and asked if she would like to receive the same thing. As she prayed for Stephanie, God began to download to Amy all this super deep stuff about Stephanie's life, "the secrets of her heart were disclosed" (1 Cor. 14:25), and Stephanie's tears began to flow.
Amy, Stephanie, Nick & Kim

The next day Stephanie wanted to get together with Amy and me, and she brought Kim and Nick along with her. We met at Beehive Coffeehouse in South Side Pittsburgh. We shared our testimonies of coming to know Jesus. Amy's testimony included a story of a crippled guy's leg getting grown out by Jesus so that he was able to walk. I never like to share about things without demonstrating them too. "The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power" (1 Cor. 4:20). So we had Kim, Nick, and Stephanie sit down in the middle of the coffee shop, against the wall with their legs straight out, to see if their legs were even lengths. If your legs are not completely even it can cause back problems your whole life. Stephanie's and Kim's legs were uneven. We laid hands and prayed in Jesus' name, and the girls watched their feet become even right before their eyes. We caused quite a scene in the middle of Beehive.
Then we sat back down to talk about what just happened. Experience + explanation = epiphany. Or as others would say, proclamation + demonstration = revelation of the gospel. I shared the beautiful good news about Jesus and why God sent him to the earth and explained the age we now live in, waiting for the return of the King, spreading this good news to all people. I asked, would y'all like to give your lives to Jesus and receive his Spirit in your hearts? Stephanie immediately said yes! Then Nick and Kim said yes! We prayed together, and Amy and I prayed for the Spirit to touch them and fill them.
I explained that the first command given to us as followers of Jesus is to get baptized. We headed back to headquarters and our whole group gathered to celebrate Nick's, Kim's, and Stephanie's baptism and entry into the kingdom of God! I seriously love these three new friends-they are so cool. In the car on the way to get baptized they were cranking the reggae music to celebrate what Jesus had done in their lives. Amy baptized Stephanie and Kim, then Kim baptized her brother Nick. There was much talk among them about bringing friends to the next hang-out time, so Jesus we pray that you would build your church around Stephanie, Kim, and Nick, and create a thriving community that loves you and loves each other. Praise the Lord!
Amy Fleming needs to raise $3800 to cover the expenses of her ministry this summer. Would you like to support Amy financially? Just click here to give online! Be sure to select "Josiah Project" as the donation type, and add the note: JPAF.
